Affiliate Link Monitoring Checklist
Use this checklist to ensure your affiliate links are healthy, tracked correctly, and monitored for issues.
✅ Initial Setup
- Run a Link Discovery crawl on your website or link-in-bio page
- Review and import all revenue-generating affiliate links as monitored assets
- Add estimated traffic and conversion data to enable revenue-at-risk scoring
- Configure email and/or Slack alerts
- Verify each link resolves to the correct landing page with tracking parameters intact
✅ Per-Link Health Checks
- HTTP status code is 200 (or expected redirect)
- Final destination URL matches the intended partner landing page
- Affiliate ID / sub-ID is present in the final URL
- UTM parameters are intact through the entire redirect chain
- Landing page loads in under 3 seconds
- No SSL certificate errors
- Page content is relevant (not parked, expired, or an error page)
✅ Ongoing Monitoring
- Automated monitoring is running at the right frequency for your plan
- Alerts are being received and acted on
- New affiliate links are added to monitoring when published
- Removed or expired affiliate links are cleaned up
- Revenue estimates are updated quarterly to keep prioritisation accurate
✅ After Any Site Change
- Re-run Link Discovery after CMS updates, redesigns, or content changes
- Manually recheck high-value links after plugin or theme updates
- Verify redirect rules haven't changed after server or CDN configuration changes
✅ Monthly Review
- Review the monthly monitoring report
- Check for links that have been degraded for an extended period
- Update or replace links to ended affiliate programs
- Add new affiliate links from recent content
